FAQ's
1. What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is a healthcare field that is based on the understanding that a normally functioning nervous system allows your body to perform at its optimum potential. Chiropractic looks to address diseases by locating and adjusting a musculoskeletal area of the body that is functioning improperly, not through the use of drugs and chemicals.
2. What is an adjustment?
A chiropractic adjustment is a way of applying a specific force in a precise direction to a joint that is fixated or not moving properly; this is delivered by hand or instrument. The purpose of the adjustment is to correct any spinal subluxations therefore improving spinal function, nervous system function, and overall general health. Some adjusting methods are quick, whereas others require a slow and constant pressure, but all are designed to correct spinal subluxations thus removing the nerve interference in the body.
3. What is a subluxation?
A subluxation is a misalignment of one or more of your spinal bones (vertebrae), which causes interference to the nervous system. If the nervous system is interfered with, the body’s natural ability to heal itself and function at it’s optimum potential becomes impaired.
4. Do chiropractic adjustments hurt?
Under normal circumstances, chiropractic adjustments do not hurt. There may be a small amount of discomfort during the actual adjustment which lasts only seconds, but afterward the patient will notice less stress and tension.
5. Is chiropractic care safe?
Chiropractic adjustments or manipulations are extremely safe. Statistics prove that chiropractic care is one of the safest types of healthcare in the world. The risk factor is estimated to be in excess of one million to one. Chiropractic care is a conservative approach to health that avoids invasive procedures or addictive drugs. Chiropractic is not dangerous and can benefit everyone including infants, the elderly and pregnant women. Chiropractic care is a natural, safe, and effective treatment to many health related problems.

7. How long will I need chiropractic care?
Spinal problems may require ongoing supportive care for optimum spinal function. Most patients find that periodic chiropractic checkups help keep them in peak shape. But the extent to which you choose to benefit from chiropractic care is ultimately up to you. We strongly urge all patients to consider lifelong wellness chiropractic care. This is where the long-term, lasting benefits of care are enjoyed. Regular exercise and healthy eating habits are a lifestyle decision and so is lifetime, wellness chiropractic care.
Some patients seek chiropractic care only when their ache or pain becomes unbearable. While this style of “crisis management” is usually more costly and time consuming, our office stands ready to help all patients, regardless of their health goals. How long you decide to benefit from chiropractic care is always up to you.
