Decompression Therapy
Axial decompression (also known as VAX-D, IID, and DRS) is a new state of the art advanced form of non-surgical repair and pain relief for conditions arising from disc injuries (herniations/tears), facet arthrosis and calcification (spinal arthritis, lipping and spurring); and radicular neuropathy symptoms (numbness, tingling and burning). Decompression has been used in the treatment of thousands of patients who before were looking at surgical intervention as their only form of pain relief. Under conservative treatment, people suffering with pain and radiculopathies associated with these conditions can now be treated without surgery. This means little or no loss of time or wage from work, no nasty surgical scarring or post rehabilitative therapy and quicker recovery back to activities of daily life.Who is a candidate for Decompression Therapy?
People with acute and chronic neck and lower back pain can benefit from decompression therapy. The procedure will provide relief to anyone that has pain associated with disc herniation, disc protrusions, degenerative disc disease, arthritis, posterior facet syndrome, sciatica and generalized back pain.
What makes Decompression Therapy different?
Decompression therapy utilizes a computer-controlled logarithmic contraction sequence of variable weight and tensions, which can create up to 200 mm of negative intradiscal pressure, retracting the disc herniation to promote tissue healing. During therapy sessions, specific spinal segments are put through a series of these controlled tractions. This is all under the supervision of one of our trained doctors.
